Lynne Miller, who organised the Freedom Pass petition has received a letter in response to it from David Brazier, the
Cabinet Member for Transport & Environment at KCC.
“Dear
Ms Falcon & Ms Miller,
I
refer to the Freedom Pass petition which was considered by
County Council in July 2013 . .
Since
considering this petition, the County Council has considered a number of
options relating to concessionary travel for scholars who are not entitled to
free home to school transport. I am pleased to inform you that we
have given careful consideration to the matter of travel concessions for
students aged 16-18 within the context of our heavily constrained
budgets. We will be asking Members of the Environment, Highways and
Waste Cabinet Committee to consider a report on this matter on 13
December. The report is published at least 5 clear working
days before the Committee meets, i.e. by 5 December and can be viewed
on our website:
You
are welcome to attend this meeting and if you would like to do so, please let
me know so I can provide you with directions. Alternatively, the meeting
will be webcast and you can view proceedings on the website:
If
you would like a hard copy of the report, please do not hesitate to contact me.
I
will contact you again shortly after the meeting to let you know the outcome.
Yours
sincerely
David
Brazier
Cabinet
Member for Transport & Environment
