Executive meeting 20/3/13 - summary of recommendations.

WESTGATE TOWERS / ST. DUNSTANS EXPERIMENTAL TRAFFIC SCHEME

In summary, the recommendations are as follows:

“Having considered the report and the issues raised at the meeting, the Executive RECOMMENDED (to the County Council’s Cabinet Member) –

That Kent County Council take the following steps:

  • The highway improvements identified in Appendix 5 are prepared for implementation and the highways changes made under the experimental Traffic Order in St Dunstan’s and the Westgate Towers remain in place for the maximum allowable period of 18 months to allow for the effects of the improvements to be seen.

  • Officers prepare a number of alternative permanent schemes taking into consideration the following factors.
  1. The results of public consultation and any modifications that have been suggested.
  2. The need to ensure that an effective and efficient bus service is maintained in the St Dunstan’s area.
  3. The need to ensure that the Westgate Towers are protected from further vehicular damage.
  4. The need to ensure that the air quality improvements in the AQMA are retained.”
