Kingsmead Field - a letter from the campaign.

http://kingsmeadfield.blogspot.co.uk/

Monday 15th October 2012

Dear Kingsmead Field supporters

We were informed by the Council this afternoon that the Executive decision to appropriate the Kingsmead Field will no longer be on the agenda of the Scrutiny meeting this Wednesday, but will instead be debated at a special meeting of the committee on Wednesday 24 October at 9.30 am in the Guildhall.  The reason for this change of date is that a number of councillors have identified a wide range of flaws in the Executive decision, and Council officers need more time to prepare their response.

The advantage of the postponement for us is that the Executive decision will be much more thoroughly reviewed in a meeting dedicated to this one issue.  The disadvantage is that many people already know about this week's date and have rescheduled commitments in order to attend.  We are really sorry about this, and totally share in the frustration!

If you are free to attend on 24 October, it would be great to see you.  Public support is very important in meetings like this.  The debate should be interesting as the committee is cross-party (unlike the Executive) and several of the councillors on the committee have consistently expressed strong support for the protection of the field.

Please forward this message to others who might have been planning to attend this week.

Thank you once again for your support.

Sian
